Maths Is an Exact Science… Or Maybe Not?

"XYZ" di Aki Sasamoto

Focus areas
A cross-curricular activity that touches on various subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, and art history.

Activities
This course offers an in-depth exploration of the relationship between art, mathematics, physics, and interpersonal connections in Aki Sasamoto’s work. During the visit, key words and references will guide the students through mathematical curves, irregular trajectories, and the centripetal and centrifugal forces present in the works.

The tour of the exhibition will start with independent observation, followed by a group activity. Each group will be assigned key terms and elements – such as a mathematical formula, the picture of an object, or one of the exhibition’s wittiest titles. The students will suggest possible connections and build meaningful links with the works of art, before sharing their interpretations in an engaging group discussion.
