Luciano Fabro and the History of Art (two- and three-year courses)
"Abitare lo spazio" by Luciano Fabro
Focus Area
- History of art
Activities
This session looks at the relationship between Luciano Fabro’s artistic research and classical, medieval, Renaissance and Baroque sculpture, painting and architecture, as well as with the colour schemes and geometric compositions of Piet Mondrian (1872–1944), the spatial research of Lucio Fontana (1899–1968), the conceptual reflections of Piero Manzoni (1933–1963), and the broader context of Arte Povera –while highlighting Fabro’s distinct artistic independence.
This comparative study culminates in a collectively created constellation of annotated images. The activity develops the students’ conscious use of subject-specific vocabulary, as well as their ability to connect artworks, historical periods, materials and styles.
