Winter is Coming! Winter Creative Workshops for Kids 2026 in Milan
On 14 and 15 February 2026, the Education Department of Pirelli Hangar Bicocca presents a special Winter is Coming! programme. On this occasion, the illustrator Giulia Pastorino will lead a series of free workshops in which children aged five and over will explore and discover Anselm Kiefer’s permanent installation. They will do so through observation, listening and drawing, and in a participatory activity that is open to all visitors.
During the workshops, Giulia Pastorino will assist participants as they observe lines, solids and voids, details and materials, encouraging them to reflect on how it feels to walk around Kiefer’s monumental towers. After an animated reading of the book Se fossi Ugo, the children will be able to experiment and play with a variety of artistic techniques, and discover how a single mark is itself a drawing, capable of telling a story and conveying sensations. To conclude, the participants will create portrait masks to showcase their personality and uniqueness.
Participation in the workshops is free, but online booking is required.
On both 14 and 15 February, all visitors are also invited to take part in CoinVOLTI, a participatory activity conceived by Giulia Pastorino, who has drawn a multitude of empty faces that are ready to be filled by the imagination and creativity of the public.
No booking is required. Everyone is encouraged to leave a mark, a detail, a shape, to create a whole crowd of totally original characters that tell the story of a temporary community through a collective artwork.
