Mind over Object
"XYZ" by Aki Sasamoto
Focus areas
• Italian Literature
• History of Art
Activities
During their tour of the exhibition, the students will analyse how Aki Sasamoto transforms everyday objects through wit, careful observation, and the creation of personal classification systems. The works of art will be interpreted as traces of an experimental laboratory where mathematics, physics, language, and human relationships all intertwine.
In the workshop session, the class will create a fantastical encyclopaedia of unusual objects. Tailored to the group’s age and skill level, selected images and words will be transformed by new definitions written in the formal style of a dictionary or encyclopaedia. This activity will connect creative writing, imagination, and a critical interpretation of reality.
