Activities
While going round the exhibition, the children will discover Rirkrit Tiravanija’s work by looking at architectural elements and the social purpose of different spaces, such as the roofs, façades, doors, and common areas. To spark their imagination and observation skills, they will also look at illustrated books on the theme of homes, that compare various types of houses.
In the workshop, the pupils will create a “bestiary of buildings”: imaginary constructions using three stacked cubes. Each cube represents a different part of the building – base, facade, and roof – and will be decorated on all four sides. By combining these cubes in different ways, they will create unique, nature-inspired, or fantastical homes. This activity encourages them to think about how people live in different geographical and cultural settings.
