THEMATIC ACTIVITY| Places and Bodies That Speak: Exploring the Metamorphoses of “Rebecca”

"Rebecca" di Benni Bosetto

Focus areas
An interdisciplinary project suitable for subjects such as art history, Italian and foreign literature, and civic education.

Activities
Rebecca is Benni Bosetto’s first major solo exhibition. It transforms the Shed at Pirelli HangarBicocca into a vibrant, ever-changing domestic landscape, inspired by Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name. Drawing, sculpture and installation create a dreamlike setting that reflects on the body, memory and perception. Divided into three sections – “la guancia”, “la pancia” e “il cuore” (“The Cheek”, “The Belly” and “The Heart”) – the exhibition appears as an architectural extension of the female body. Bosetto weaves together visual art, cinema, literature, social anthropology and poetry. Painting, sculpture, dance, music and graphics converge in a single expressive field, creating a fully immersive sensory experience.

To begin with, the students will be divided into groups and invited to go round the exhibition independently, guided by key questions.

These prompts will help them discover the many influences and references that help form Benni Bosetto’s world of the imagination, as well as the domestic, dreamlike and corporeal dimensions of the exhibition.
These and other themes will be at the centre of the activities that will allow the students to share their reflections and engage in lively discussions among themselves.
