Activities
The children will be shown around the exhibition, where they will explore the mechanical works of the renowned kinetic artist Jean Tinguely (Fribourg 1925-1991 Bern), who investigated the concepts of movement and perception in his amusing and monumental works of art. Special attention will be given to Tinguely’s “lamp sculptures,” which not only move and are made from an array of recycled objects, but also light up their surroundings with bulbs of various shapes and colours. Tinguely originally made these works as gifts for his friends or to create a pleasant ambiance in social spaces like bars and cafés.
During the workshop session, the children will experiment with creating their own small light sculptures. These individual pieces will come together to form a collective class installation, promoting collaboration and strengthening the bond among all members of the group.
