Activities

During their visit to the exhibition, the boys and girls will find out how Saodat Ismailova (b. 1981, Tashkent, Uzbekistan) portrays the landscapes of Central Asia in different ways—from sweeping panoramic views to detailed aerial shots—creating a visual link between the natural world and abstract forms.

During the workshop session, the children will work together to create their own class atlas by turning a geographical map into an abstract composition of shapes and colours. The class will be divided into groups and, starting with a map of a place somewhere in the world, they will use their creativity to transform its geographical features into abstract elements, making fanciful maps of their own.
