A walk through the exhibition with Saodat Ismailova and Sheida Ghomashchi

The Public Program of Pirelli HangarBicocca dedicated to the exhibition “A Seed Under Our Tongue” by Saodat Ismailova continues, on Thursday December 12 at 7 PM, with a walk through the exhibition between the artist Saodat Ismailova and independent curator Sheida Ghomashchi.
The meeting between Sheida Ghomashchi and Saodat Ismailova explores some aspects of the cultural syncretism present in the artist’s work and in the cultural history of Central Asia and will take place in direct relation to some of the works on display, including in particular 18,000 Worlds (2023), Chillahona (2022), Arslanbob (2023-ongoing).
The conversation will be held in English, simultaneous translation is provided in Italian.

The meeting takes place as part of a collaboration that puts Saodat Ismailova’s solo exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca in dialogue with the group exhibition “YOU ARE HERE. Central Asia” organized by Fondazione Elpis in Milan. The event at Pirelli HangarBicocca is preceded by a conversation between Ismailova and Ghomashchi to be held on Wednesday, December 11 at 6.30 PM at Fondazione Elpis.
SHEIDA GHOMASHSCHI
Sheida Ghomashchi, born and raised in Tehran, Iran, in 1980, is an independent curator in Milan, Italy. She has been part of various projects including:
DART Project: Curating the exhibition of the artist Marco Trinca Colonel and editing the book with the same title;
co-curator of “Dixit Algorizmi, The Garden of Knowledge,” the first national pavilion of Uzbekistan at the Venice Biennale of Art;
co-Curator of “Dixit Algorizmi,” International exhibition, CCA, Tashkent, Uzbekistan;
fellow at Floating University, Forensic Architecture Group, Berlin, Germany;
curator of “Archive Alive!”, Exhibition of Ramak Fazel, Kandovan, Pejman Foundation, Tehran, Iran;
fellow of “Ideas City – Detroit,” New Museum of New York, USA, and the fellowship in Urban Research program, BAUHAUS, Dessau, Germany.
