Published on the occasion of the retrospective dedicated to Rirkrit Tiravanija—centered on the artist’s ongoing exploration of spatial and architectural dimensions—the catalogue takes its cue from these investigations, bringing together newly commissioned essays and conversations that examine his engagement with architecture and art. Contributions include a critical essay by curator Francesco Bonami, offering an overview of the artist’s career from its beginnings; a text by art historian Beatriz Colomina on Tiravanija’s exploration of space; a conversation with architect Frida Escobedo, addressing the architectural and theoretical influences embedded in his work; and a dialogue with the exhibition’s curators, Lucia Aspesi and Vicente Todolí, providing deeper insight into the project at Pirelli HangarBicocca.
The volume also presents detailed entries on the exhibited works, written from perspectives across disciplines such as art, music, architecture, and cinema. The publication is further enriched by an extensive photographic sequence documenting the exhibition, as well as a glossary tracing the architectural references that have informed the realization of the exhibited works.
