Not Afraid of the Dark: Emergenze
HangarBicocca takes part to the EMERGENZE project with an exhibition that reflects on controversial social and political issues through the diverse works of five international artists.
Fabio Mauri builds a large and theatrical installation in collaboration with actor Luigi Lo Cascio; Jenny Holzer projects de-secreted documents, letters, e-mails and confessions by politicians, soldiers and prisoners involved in the wars begun after 09/11 (Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay); Kutlug Ataman presents a spatial representation of one of Istanbul neighbourhoods that is inhabited by Turkish and Kurdish people, religious extremists, political dissidents and other marginalised; Santiago Sierra composes a huge sign saying Klassenkampf in memory of the industrial era of the space; William Kentridge creates a series of new drawings, which were also published on the Sunday edition of newspaper Il Sole24Ore.
