Walk through the exhibition with Mami Kataoka

The Public Program of Pirelli HangarBicocca devoted to the exhibition “ICARUS” by Yukinori Yanagi presents on Saturday 14 June at 7 PM an itinerant lecture in the exhibition spaces with Mami Kataoka, director of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. The conversation will take place in direct relation to the works, following the exhibition itinerary and tracing, through the observation of the works, some of the highlights of Yukinori Yanagi’s career. A special focus will be devoted to the relationship between the works and their socio-political Japanese and international background, as well as to his site-specific projects in Japan, such as the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum, where Yanagi also created Icarus Cell as a permanent installation. The public will be able to listen to the lecture through headphones while moving freely within the exhibition space. Free admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Late entry will not be permitted once the performance begins.   MAMI KATAOKA Director, Mori Art Museum Kataoka Mami joined the Mori Art Museum in 2003, taking on the role of Director in 2020. She has also been the Director of the National Center for Art Research, Japan since April 2023. Beyond Tokyo, Kataoka has held position at the Hayward Gallery in London as International Curator from 2007 to 2009, while she has also acted as Co-Artistic Director for the 9th Gwangju Biennale (2012), Artistic Director for the 21st Biennale of Sydney (2018) and Artistic Director for the Aichi Triennale 2022. Kataoka served as a Board Member (2014-2022) and the President (2020-2022) of CIMAM [International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art].
