Thao Nguyen Phan
Lecture with Jennifer Higgie
9 November 2023 – 7.00pm
The Public Program devoted to Thao Nguyen Phan’ exhibition Reincarnations of Shadows continues on Thursday 9 November 2023 at 7 PM with a lecture of Jennifer Higgie, art historian, art writer and former Editorial Director of Frieze Magazine.
Jennifer Higgie will discuss the influence of the Vietnamese sculptor Diem Phung Thi on the work of Thao Nguyen Phan. She will also explore the role of both the natural and spiritual worlds in both artists’ work, the broader history of spiritualism’s relationship to modernism and the rich intergenerational legacy that has sustained the evolution of numerous women artists.
The event is organized by Pirelli HangarBicocca in collaboration with Fondazione In Between Art Film and follows the co-production of the work Reincarnations of Shadows (moving-image-poem), 2023, which gives the exhibition its title.
The lecture was held in English.
Admission to the event is free.
