Program of performances by Aki Sasamoto

The Public Program dedicated to Aki Sasamoto’s exhibition “XYZ” presents three performances throughout Saturday October 24 2026, each activated in relation to a corresponding work on view: Strange Attractors, Wrong Happy Hour, and Delicate Cycle.

The event begins at 11.00 AM with Strange Attractors, installation that unfolds as a constellation of suspended elements—including tables, closed-circuit cameras, drinking glasses nestled within fruit nets—composing an environment of altered and reconfigured household objects. During the performance, the system reorganizes itself, adding new diagrams and marks to the walls in the artist’s presence.

This is followed, at 4.00 PM, by the performance Wrong Happy Hour, during which the front and interior of the installation, that recreates the atmosphere of a bar, become accessible when the audience is invited to enter and linger in the bar for a beer. Throughout the activation, Sasamoto gradually pushes the back wall, reducing the size of the space until those present are pushed outwards, in a process that is both physical and symbolic of compression and exclusion.

The evening finishes at 7.00 PM with Delicate Cycle, a performance that activates a series of sculptural works that evoke the atmosphere of a laundromat. At the heart of the piece lies the idea of the cycle as a constant process of sedimentation and reactivation of memory, through which actions, gestures, and materials retain traces of the past despite changing over time.
