Performance Centrifugal March

The Public Program dedicated to Aki Sasamoto’s exhibition “XYZ” presents, on Friday October 23 2026 from 6.00 PM, the performance Centrifugal March. During the performance, Sasamoto uses modified furniture, such as wardrobes and beds, to reflect on centrifugal and centripetal forces, which are central to her view of the connection between human beings and objects. Here she also adds ice, an unstable and ever-changing material, introducing a temporal and sonic dimension to the work. As the ice slowly melts, it produces a subtle sound amplified by hidden microphones that marks the passage of time and accompanies the metamorphosis of matter, while simultaneously evoking themes of memory and rituals of body preservation after death.
