demo station: LLedizioni – – AFOL Metropolitana

LLedizioni presents "A project by LL Edizioni, in collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and CFP Bauer - AFOL Metropolitana".

Two actions conceived together with the students of the Expanded Photography and Sound Space Design courses. The work originates from the relationship between image and sound: if the image possesses an innate ability to generate sound, in the same way sounds possess the quality of generating images. Both actions take the form of scores. In the first, the image is translated into a series of instructions that guide the audience through a landscape. In the second, the image is transformed into a narrative, into a voice, eluding censorship as a tool of control and photography as a device of power.
In both cases, the image is never shown but manifests itself as a process.
A score stages an image in space through multiple listening points. Simple instructions invite the audience to participate freely in this moment.

The event takes place on Rirkrit Tiravanija’s installation untitled 2026 (demo station no. 9). The stage-like structure invites people to “demonstrate” something. The combination of the words demo and station in the work’s title refers respectively to the abbreviation of demonstration—understood both as a protest and as a presentation of someone’s talent or hobby —and to station, that is, an accessible place where such “demonstrations” can occur. For the duration of the exhibition, the installation provides a space for daily public activations.
