Matt Mullican: Performative Lecture
First event of Public Program | Matt Mullican
The first event in the Public Program for the exhibition “The Feeling of Things” is a lecture in which Matt Mullican retraces the fundamental works and ideas of his career, through a long monologue that gradually takes on the rhythm and ritual quality of a performance. The three-part lecture includes moments in which Mullican uses words and drawings to explain the key concepts behind his art, shows pictures of his work, and presents videos of his performances.
In his performative lectures, which Mullican sees as a fundamental part of his practice, the artist analyzes and reflects on the principles underlying his oeuvre, portraying the complex relationship between his artistic identity and the work itself.
