Activities

Saodat Ismailova (b. 1981, Tashkent, Uzbekistan) explores the impact of human activities on the environment, as well as on cultural and scenic heritage, with a particular emphasis on the transmission of knowledge, stories and memories.

Through her films, sculptures, and installations, Ismailova weaves together traditions, narratives and moving images, creating immersive soundscapes that act as living memories of the landscapes and peoples of Central Asia.

The students will be divided into groups and will explore the exhibition space on their own, guided by key words that point to the historical and environmental themes in Ismailova’s works. They will then come together and share their reflections and engage in peer-to-peer discussions, exchanging ideas and insights.

During the workshop activity, the boys and girls will be encouraged to transform a geographical map into a tapestry of dreams and thoughts. By weaving words into the cartographic elements, they will create new landscapes that reflect both the individuality of each student and the collective identity of the class.
