Every Body In Motion (final year)
"Jean Tinguely"
Focus areas
- The body and movement
- Self and others
- Images, sounds, and colours
Activities
The children will be accompanied around the exhibition, where they will explore the mechanical works of the renowned kinetic artist Jean Tinguely (Fribourg 1925-1991 Bern), who investigated the concepts of movement and perception in his art. Special focus will be given to the movements and composition of his various sculptures. These are made not only of wheels, belts, electric motors, and mechanical parts, for they also include unconventional materials such as soft toys, animal bones, garden gnomes, and brightly coloured feathers. Some of the sculptures are illuminated with vibrant lights, transforming them into unique, playful lamps.
During the workshop session, the children will take inspiration from Tinguely’s works to experiment with countless different ways of moving their bodies in response to sounds, noises, and melodies.
