Conceived and designed by the artist Tarek Atoui
Focus Areas

- Images, sounds, and colors
- Understanding the world
Activities
During the visit to the exhibition, children will be guided in discovering the works of artist Tarek Atoui (Beirut, Lebanon, 1980), who explores sound and its perception by combining the use of computers and synthesizers with natural elements such as water, air, stone, and wood to create innovative musical and visual instruments.
Participants will be invited to explore the exhibition space, which the artist has transformed into a place of discovery, constantly evolving and changing, investigating the relationship with sound in various ways. This experience will not only be acoustic but also multisensory.
During the workshop activity, children will explore the ability of water to amplify and propagate sound to make objects vibrate. “How do we amplify and propagate sound? How do we use microphones to listen underwater? Does sound travel the same way in water and air? How can we play and listen to each other at the same time? How can we recreate the sound of rain?” To attempt to answer these open-ended questions, participants will be invited to experiment actively and playfully with water, objects, materials, and available instruments, experiencing a unique, personal, and collective sound experience.
