Pirelli HangarBicocca has published a catalogue that analyzes thirty years of the artist’s work through critical essays by Anda Rottenberg and Simone Menegoi. The publication also reprints chapter 7 of Roberto Calasso’s novel The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony (1988), a text selected by the artist as a “preface” to the book. The catalogue ends with a series of meticulous entries describing the works on view, and a chronology illustrated with archival images that covers Balka’s solo exhibitions from 1985 to the present.
