Waterbowls. Sound performance by Tomoko Sauvage
Thursday 9 January 2025 - at 7 PM
The Public Program of Pirelli HangarBicocca dedicated to the exhibition “A Seed Under Our Tongue” by Saodat Ismailova will conclude, on Thursday 9 January 2025 at 7 PM, with the sound performance Waterbowls by composer and artist Tomoko Sauvage.
Tomoko Sauvage, composer of the soundtrack for Saodat Ismailova’s film Chillahona (2022) currently on display, will activate the sound device Waterbowls in dialogue with the works in the exhibition space.
The title of the project Waterbowls (2006-ongoing), takes its name from the device created by Sauvage inspired by the Jaltarang, a traditional instrument from southern India. Through extensive research on the tactile properties of materials, Sauvage transformed porcelain bowls into electroacoustic water instruments. Clay, stones, shells, and glass objects are used by Sauvage as instruments that amplify even the most imperceptible, otherwise inaudible vibrations through the presence of water.
Admission to the event is free. Places are limited and booking is recommended.
Online bookings are available from Monday 23rd December 2024.
