Roberto Pinto: Unguided Tour
On Thursday, 27 November 2014 at 7.30 pm HangarBicocca presents Unguided Tour, the second event in the Public Program devoted to the Light Time Tales exhibition by Joan Jonas: visitors are taken on a journey through the exhibits in a way that overturns the traditional format of the “guided tour”.
Roberto Pinto, an art historian, curator and university lecturer, accompanies visitors through the Light Times Tales exhibition, engaging them in a reflection on the potential of Joan Jonas’s works, and on the never unequivocal meanings, allusions and ideas that emerge from them. Unguided Tour is an invitation to listen rather than to learn, to ask oneself questions rather than ask others for answers, taking inspiration from the open allusions of the works of Joan Jonas, an artist who – through the never straightforward strands of her narratives – formulates a discourse filled with references to art history and culture.
The visit ends with a moment of open discussion, in which visitors can examine aspects of the recent developments in contemporary art, both through and beyond the artistic practice of Joan Jonas herself.
