MUSEORAMA
Space, Time, and Architecture in Laure Prouvost’s “GDM – Grand Dad’s Visitor Center”
with Anna Barbara and Aurora Destro
For the first appointment of Public Program | Laure Prouvost, Pirelli HangarBicocca presents an event with architects and designers Anna Barbara and Aurora Destro inside “GDM – Grand Dad’s Visitor Center”, the museum that Laure Prouvost has created for her exhibition.
The two participants in this discussion guide visitors through Laure Prouvost’s works and the themes found in her elusory and multisensorial museum: the body and the senses, the language and the fiction.
The dialogue also engages those in attendance and play ironically with the concept of misunderstanding – a key theme in Prouvost’s oeuvre – raising unanswered questions about who is truly at the center of this “museorama”: the artist, grandad, grandma – who inspired the project – or the visitor?
Anna Barbara is a professor of Interior Design in the Design department of Politecnico di Milano; she has taught and lectured at universities in the US, China, and is a leading expert on the connections between time, space, and the senses, in design, interior design, and architecture.
Her best-known publications include Storie di architettura attraverso i sensi (Bruno Mondadori, 2000, reprinted by Postmedia Books, 2011); Architetture invisibili: L’esperienza dei luoghi attraverso gli odori (Skira, 2006); Sensi, tempo e architettura. Spazi possibili per umani e non (Postmedia Books, 2012) and the recent essay Forms of Space and Time (in S. Yelavich, B. Adams, Design as Future-Making, Bloomsbury, 2014). In 2016 she founded SenseLab.
Aurora Destro lives and works in Milan, where she is an architect-designer and “visual jockey”.
