HB Public presents Carlos Casas
21 February 2013 – 8.00pm
On Thursday February 21st (8pm), HB Public presents a special appointment with Carlos Casas and Andrea Lissoni, curator of a solo exhibition of the artist which took place at HangarBicocca in 2010. Together they retrace Casas’s travels, encounters and the many worlds discovered in remote lands in the span of ten years of the artist’s intense and passionate work. It is the occasion to present as a first preview End. Trips at the end of the world, a book (distributed by Corraini), that gathers the visual documentation and the behind the scenes of the trilogy.
Since 2001, the artist has been intensely active in realizing End: a trilogy of works dedicated to living in extreme conditions and remote areas on earth. The first chapter is an extraordinary story of the life of three generations of fishers whom live on the Aral see. Whilst the second, Solitiude at the end of the World, narrates imaginary myths and experiences associated with Patagonia.
On Saturday February 23rd at 3.30pm there is also a special event HB Kids: the artist will accompany the screening of the documentary Hunters since the beginning of time, centred on a year in the life of the community Chukchi (Siberia) that hunts whales based on a thousand-year-old technique. The encounter is dedicated to children from 6 to 12 years old and is a precious occasion for the younger ones to get closer to contemporary artistic research.
