Damián Ortega

ART on Sundays is back with a new series of meetings on the history of art, this time looking at the “Casino” exhibition by Damián Ortega and Anselm Kiefer’s “The Seven Heavenly Palaces 2004-2015” permanent installation.

Robert Smithson, one of the top names in American Land Art in the 1970s, is one of the main influences on the work of Damián Ortega. The Mexican artist has always been interested in the decay and renewal of matter, which was one of the key aspects of Smithson’s artistic research. Visitors will find new insights and interpretations in a journey of cross-references and ideas, leading to a greater understanding of the Casino exhibition.
