Public Program/
Tarek Atoui
Activation by Enrico Malatesta
8 May 2025 – 7.00pm
The Public Program dedicated to the exhibition “Improvisation in 10 Days” by Tarek Atoui presents on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 7.00 PM, an activation of the exhibition by percussionist and sound researcher Enrico Malatesta.
Responding to Pirelli HangarBicocca’s invitation, Malatesta will engage with Atoui’s exhibition “Improvisation in 10 Days”, allowing himself to be guided by the materials, sound devices, and their presence in space to layer an additional improvisation, an “eleventh day” in which the works are activated by a different bare hand, by a touch that transparently allows sounds and their materiality to evolve towards a new acoustic arrangement of the environment. With his twenty years of experience in improvisation and research on listening dynamics, Malatesta will manifest the conceptual foundation of Atoui’s exhibition: the idea of presenting “a device capable of evolving and materializing over time in a given situation, triggering a dynamic relationship between space, instruments, and people.”
Enrico Malatesta is a sound artist active in experimental fields situated between music, performance, and territorial research. His practice explores the relationship between sound, space, and movement, as well as the vitality of materials, with particular attention to surfaces, modes of listening, and the definition of multiple layers of information through an ecological and sustainable approach to percussion instruments.
Admission to the event is free. Places are limited and booking is recommended.
Online bookings are available from Wednesday April 30, 2025 11 AM on this page of the website.
