Nature Narrates (lower primary)

"Born in the first light of the morning [moswara’marapo]" by Dineo Seshee Bopape

The artist Dineo Seshee Bopape uses a whole range of natural elements to create her immersive, sensorial environmental installations. Her art reveals how nature preserves the memory of the events of human history and of the communities that have lived through it, as well as of those who have passed through its places.

Educational goals and activities

While exploring the exhibition, the children will start by identifying the natural elements that the artist uses to create her works, such as water and earth, and they will learn how these materials preserve the stories and memories of the people whose lives they have become part of.
During the session, the children will take inspiration from the artist to leave traces of their own. By linking these traces to those of their companions, they will create a natural landscape of their own individual memories within a collective narrative.
