Moving Images and Stories
"Sunshine State" by Steve McQueen
Tour with workshop activities
Educational objectives and activities
While going round Steve McQueen’s Sunshine State exhibition, the children will see if they can find some fundamental elements of the world of cinema, acquiring an understanding of the mechanisms that turn static images into moving images.
While exploring the exhibition, the students will observe various types of moving images: in colour, in black and white, shot on video cameras or made with cine camera and film.
In the workshop session, the children will examine what a film is and how it works, and then they will be asked to plan and create a story: with the help of the arts tutors, they will make a sequences of drawings to create their own story in moving images.
